Thus, we hope to contribute to the strong development of Japan's economy through strategic and efficient promotion of oil and gas exploration and development projects by Japanese companies.

ICEP maintains various databases and provides member companies with a variety of information relating to oil and gas exploration and production.
ICEP conducts research and surveys concerning technical, economic and political matters related to oil and gas exploration and production. This research is mainly performed under contracts awarded by private companies and public institutions.
ICEP conducts collaborative R&D, research and surveys, and personnel exchange projects in the fields of oil and gas, strengthening the friendly relationships between oil and gas producing countries and Japan.
Member companies are provided with online search and access to various databases relating to oil and gas exploration and production. These databases include IRIS21(International Regional Information System 21), EDIN(The Energy Data Information Navigator), Comanche(GIS system based on IRIS21 data) and links to Petroleum Information. Special members can retrieve data and create maps from the above databases through a dedicated line. General members can search and access Overseas Oil News Index/summaries, and links to Petroleum Information through the Internet.
Special member companies are provided with regular training courses in the use of online databases and with user meetings. All member companies are also provided with information relating to overseas oil and gas exploration and production through the member site on the ICEP's Website.
Through annual progress meetings, member companies receive reports on our budget and work program, our research and survey activities, and E&P cooperation with oil- and gas-producing countries.
"ICEP News" is a quarterly bulletin issued in Japanese.

Research and surveys are implemented on a wide range of matters in the upstream business of oil and gas. Our efforts are concentrated on geological assessments of oil and gas in world sedimentary basins, studies on current trends of oil and gas production technology, studies on political and business trends, and provision and maintenance of databases relating to oil and gas exploration and production. These activities are mainly conducted under contracts with private companies and public institutions.
The Geological Evaluation Group mainly conducts research and evaluation of subject areas and geological elements in order to select new prospective areas for future exploration.
The Production Technology Group mainly conducts research and evaluation on oil and gas production and development and technical trend surveys in the E&P business.
The Economic and Political Research Group mainly conducts studies and analyses on the politics, economies and legal systems of oil- and gas-producing countries as well as the activities and strategies of foreign oil companies.
The Information Services Group mainly provides and maintains for member companies various databases relating to oil and gas exploration and production, and also holds user conferences and various training courses to member companies.
Recognizing that friendly relationships with oil producing countries are mutually beneficial in order to assist in ensuring overall stable and secure supplies of oil and natural gas to Japan, we have been implementing E&P cooperation programs with oil producing countries since 1996.
ICEP implements R&D projects jointly with oil producing countries utilizing personnel and the information/data services of Japanese oil E&P companies for technological cooperation in the field of oil development. These projects utilize advanced technology and processes available and focus on active companies and projects.
With the expectation from oil producing countries of Japanese economic, technological, and political cooperation, ICEP coordinates personnel and investigative projects with Japanese E&P organizations, providing information on oil producing (Delete extra spaces) countries.
To facilitate the advancement of Japanese oil development companies and to strengthen relationships with oil producing countries, ICEP implements personnel and information exchanges such as dispatching missions to oil producing countries and holding seminars inviting principal persons of those countries.
